MANILA—House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos issued a statement criticizing his aunt, Sen. Imee Marcos, for allegedly spreading false accusations against President Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and himself.

In a written statement, Sandro Marcos said he has long respected the senator’s role in his early political life, but decided to break his silence after what he described as repeated and baseless claims.

“It pains me to see how low she has gone to the point that she resorts to a web of lies aimed at destabilizing this government to advance her own political ambitions,” he said. He added that the accusations made by Sen. Marcos were “not only false, but dangerously irresponsible,” stating: “Sa lahat po ng binanggit ni senadora, walang basehan, walang katotohanan, at walang magandang idudulot sa bayan.”

He said his cousins Borgy, Vice Gov. Matthew, and Atty. Michael could attest that the allegations insinuated against him were untrue.

Sandro Marcos also recalled an agreement within their family to avoid being dragged into issues involving their parents, saying this made it more painful to see the senator’s actions. “That is why nakakalungkot makita na ginagawa niya ito,” he said.

“For her to betray her own family brings a lot of pain to me as a consequence of my respect to her for giving me my start in public life,” he added.

He urged the public to “unite behind truth,” warning against amplifying narratives meant to destabilize the administration. “Panahon ngayon para magtulungan, hindi para magpalaganap ng gulo at destabilization,” he said.

Sandro Marcos closed his statement with: “HINDI ITO ASAL NG ISANG TUNAY NA KAPATID.”
