MANILA — Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the immediate repair of the damaged portion of the seawall along Imelda Boulevard in Virac, Catanduanes after it was hit by a strong storm surge during Typhoon Uwan.
The directive follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s instruction to restore infrastructure affected by the typhoon across various provinces.
Dizon said the seawall must be reinforced with hexapods to better protect residents living near the shoreline from powerful waves.
He added that repairs will not be limited to the damaged portion, as additional hexapods will also be installed in other sections of the seawall.
The DPWH chief has also ordered the quick clearing of fallen trees and debris along major roads to ensure continuous traffic flow in the area.
