MANILA — Authorities have recovered more human skeletal fragments in Taal Lake as the search for dozens of missing cockfight enthusiasts intensifies, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.
DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said 25 pieces of human skeletal remains were retrieved on Nov. 6, followed by 26 more pieces on Nov. 18.
On Nov. 17, teams also recovered six bone fragments along with personal items, including a pair of black pants with a belt, underwear, and a piece of cut wheat flour cloth.
Martinez said operatives from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and other law enforcement units continue to scour multiple areas of Taal Lake following claims made by whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan. Patidongan earlier alleged that more than 100 bodies of missing “sabungeros” were dumped in the lake.
The discovery of additional remains comes as families of the missing men continue to call for accountability and answers nearly three years after the high-profile disappearances linked to illegal e-sabong operations.(PNA)
