MANILA — The Department of Agriculture (DA) is set to highlight the government’s affordable-food initiative as it stages the Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) Expo 2025 on November 28–30 in Intramuros, where P20 rice will be the main feature.
Organized with national partner agencies and Farmers’ Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs), the expo is the second edition of the KNP showcase and supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide accessible, affordable, and nutritious food to Filipino families.
This year’s centerpiece is the “Benteng Bigas, Meron Na!” rice project, a key component of the Rice-for-All (RFA) Program. The expo will host the program’s largest Metro Manila rollout to date, giving consumers the opportunity to buy P20 rice while demonstrating how the initiative benefits farmers, farmworkers, fisherfolk, transport groups, and low-income households. Visitors will also be able to learn about the project’s operational model, milestones, and contribution to national food and nutrition security.
Building on its inaugural run, KNP Expo 2025 will feature the expanded KADIWA network, including Food Hubs, Centers, Stores, Model Trucks, and Karts designed to stabilize supply chains and broaden access to essential goods. The expo will also present success stories on farmer income growth, rural productivity, household food access, and local economic resilience to encourage wider participation and investment in the agri-fishery sector.
“This is not just a market—this is a governance instrument that aligns policy, community empowerment, and agrifood systems development,” said Assistant Secretary Atty. Genevieve E. Velicaria-Guevarra. “Through the P20 rice initiative and the broader KADIWA interventions, we’re institutionalizing systems that uplift farmers and keep nutritious, affordable food within reach of Filipino families.”
Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. said the expo reflects the Marcos administration’s determination to make food security an everyday reality.
“By strengthening producer–consumer linkages and cutting supply-chain inefficiencies, we are building a more equitable and sustainable food system,” Tiu Laurel said. “We will continue investing in programs that expand market access, stabilize prices, and support the hardworking people who power our agricultural economy.”
The DA encouraged consumers, development partners, researchers, and stakeholders to visit the three-day expo, explore affordable agri-products, and take part in the P20 rice offering. A free Agribusiness Investment Forum will also be held on November 29 to provide insights on market trends, value-chain opportunities, and investment prospects in the agri-fishery sector.
