MANILA — The House of Representatives said its members will continue fulfilling their duties to the public regardless of ongoing investigations, emphasizing that accountability is inherent to public service and that no inquiry will divert the chamber from its mandate.

Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III issued the statement after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) and the Department of Public Works and Highways filed a new joint case referral before the Office of the Ombudsman.

He said the House will continue to place public welfare at the forefront of its work and emphasized that lawmakers must serve with honesty and integrity.

Dy reiterated that the chamber has been firm in its support for and cooperation with the ICI since the start of his speakership.

“Mula noong unang araw ng ating panunungkulan bilang Speaker, binigyang-diin natin na igagalang ng Kapulungan ang mandato ng ICI at makikipagtulungan tayo nang walang alinlangan sa lahat ng imbestigasyon nito,” he said.

He added that the House’s cooperation is anchored on the belief that truth and accountability must prevail.
