MANILA—Actress and host Kim Chiu has filed a legal complaint against her sister, Lakambini Chiu, citing “serious financial discrepancies” in their business operations, her talent agency Star Magic confirmed on social media Tuesday.
The complaint was filed at the Justice Cecilia Muñoz Palma Hall of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Building in Quezon City. Kim was accompanied by her legal counsels Xylene Dolor and Archerner Gregana of LEAPLAW Lilagan Espinosa & Presto Legal and Technical Consultancy, as well as another sister, Twinkle, and her brother-in-law.
In a statement, Kim described the decision as “one of the most painful steps I have ever taken in my life,” explaining that significant amounts connected to her business assets were found missing. She said the action was necessary to protect her company, her employees, and the integrity of her business ventures.
The complaint reportedly covers the current fiscal year and involves Lakambini’s role in business management. Kim appealed for public understanding and respect as her family navigates the situation, adding that she remains committed to her work and supporters.
