MANILA —President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.inaugurated a new OFW lounge at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1.
According to Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the newly opened lounge reflects the President’s commitment to providing humane public service.
“Bilang tugon sa hangarin ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na maghatid ng serbisyong may puso, binuksan kahapon ang bagong OFW lounge sa NAIA Terminal 1,” Castro said during a Palace press briefing on Tuesday.
First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos led the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac. Also in attendance were Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, and New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) Chairman and CEO Ramon Ang.
Castro noted that the new lounge serves as the President’s first holiday offering to the country’s so-called modern-day heroes.
The lounge provides a more spacious and comfortable area for OFWs at the airport, featuring enhanced amenities such as free meals and drinks, proper rest areas, charging stations, and secure baggage storage.
“Ang pagbubukas ng panibagong OFW lounge ay patunay lamang na prayoridad ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. at ni First Lady Liza Marcos ang kapakanan ng ating mga bagong bayani,” Castro added.
