MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) plans to partner with at least 100 shopping malls nationwide to host election-related activities, including voter registration, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said.

The initiative is intended to reach more Filipinos who want to register as new voters or update their records.

“Initiatives like voter registration are expanding, giving Filipinos the flexibility to register, update, or transfer records conveniently at a mall near them,” Garcia said in an interview.

He added that mall operators hope to expand the program to their other branches. “Hopefully, they will reach 100 for the 2028 elections,” he said.

Earlier this week, the Comelec signed agreements with major mall operators, including Robinsons Malls, SM Supermalls, WalterMart, Filinvest Malls, and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, to expand the Mall Voting and Register Anywhere Program (RAP).

“Their support in expanding access to the democratic process is an immense contribution whose true worth cannot truly be measured or quantified in terms of cost,” Garcia said.

In the May 2025 elections, Comelec partnered with 53 malls across the country for the mall voting project. (PNA)
