MANILA — Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao has ordered the parents of a young boy who was caught driving a vehicle on the National Highway in Lanao del Norte to explain their actions following the circulation of a viral video on social media.
The LTO also included the registered owner of the Suzuki Wagon involved in the incident in the Show Cause Order (SCO).
Asec. Lacanilao said the individuals concerned must personally report to the LTO Regional Office 10 in Cagayan de Oro City and submit sworn written explanations within two days from receipt of the order, detailing why they should not face disciplinary action. Failure to comply will prompt the LTO to resolve the case based on available evidence.
The LTO chief added that the minor’s parents and the vehicle owner could face charges for traffic law violations, including unlicensed driving, improper person to operate a motor vehicle, and reckless driving.
