MANILA — Late-night commuters, workers, and Christmas shoppers will be able to ride the LRT-2 rail line during extended hours from December 9 to 30, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the DOTr to extend rail line operations to accommodate more passengers this holiday season.
Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the LRT-2 management has ensured that the one-hour service extension will not compromise maintenance or safety routines.
“Ang sabi sa atin ng Pangulong Marcos, Jr. dapat mas maraming pasahero ang maserbisyuhan natin ngayong magpa-Pasko. Tinitiyak naman natin sa mga pasahero na kahit extended ang service ng LRT-2, masusi parin ang ating maintenance at safety routines sa mga tren at mga riles,” Secretary Lopez said.
Under the extended schedule starting December 9:
- Last train from Antipolo Station – 10:00 PM
- Last train from Recto Station – 10:30 PM
This schedule will also apply on Christmas Day, December 25.
On Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, the LRT-2 will implement shortened schedules:
- December 24: Last train from Antipolo – 8:00 PM; Recto – 8:30 PM
- December 31: Last train from Antipolo – 7:00 PM; Recto – 7:30 PM
Regular operations will resume on January 1.
Meanwhile, the MRT-3 will run reduced services on December 24 and 31, and adjusted schedules on December 25 and January 1:
