
MANILA — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is offering 12 days of free rides on the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 from December 14 to December 25 as part of its Christmas program for commuters.
The initiative follows the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure safe, convenient, and enjoyable travel for the public during the holiday season.
Under the 12-day program, specific groups of commuters are entitled to free rides on designated days:
- December 14 — Senior Citizens
- December 15 — Students
- December 16 — Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their families
- December 17 — Teachers and Health Workers
- December 18 — Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and male passengers
- December 19 — Government employees
- December 20 — Female passengers
- December 21 — Families (any number of members)
- December 22 — Solo Parents and LGBTQIA+ members
- December 23 — Private sector employees and household helpers
- December 24 — Uniformed personnel, veterans, and their families
- December 25 — All commuters
DOTr said the program aims to make the holiday season “Merry in every journey” and encourages everyone to take part in the festive rides.
