MANILA — Lawmakers from the House of Representatives affirmed their full support for livestreaming the bicameral conference committee deliberations on the proposed 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB), stressing the chamber’s commitment to transparency in the budget process.
Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said the position of Speaker Bojie Dy has been “very consistent, very clear,” noting that “we would have the bicam conference livestreamed.”
Adiong said livestreaming the discussions is vital to ensuring public access to how lawmakers from both chambers identify funding priorities for 2026. “Ultimately, pera ng bayan ito. They have to have that access,” he said.
He added that the plan continues the House’s efforts to make the entire budget process more transparent. “From the very beginning, klaro ang direction ng the House: ila-livestream yan from the pre-budget deliberations up to the BARSc (Budget Amendment and Revision Subcommittee). Ang gusto talaga namin, transparent ang proseso,” he said.
Adiong also questioned Senator Raffy Tulfo’s earlier remarks suggesting that some House members opposed livestreaming the bicameral conference. He said no such opposition exists within the chamber.
Manila Rep. Ernesto Dionisio likewise affirmed the House’s unified stance, saying the move is in line with the earlier pronouncements of Speaker Dy and Appropriations Chairperson and Nueva Ecija Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing.
“I don’t think there should be any question about it,” Dionisio said, adding that he has not seen “a single House member who expressed opposition for the livestreaming of the bicameral discussions of the 2026 General Appropriations Bill.”
Both lawmakers expressed confidence that the House leadership will soon announce the members who will form the chamber’s contingent to the bicameral conference committee.
