MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has pledged to hold accountable agents involved in recent incidents of alleged misconduct, while intensifying internal programs on professionalism and discipline.
In a press release dated December 10, 2025, NBI Director Angelito DLP Magno said the Internal Affairs Division immediately conducted thorough investigations to determine the accountability of those involved.
“Misconduct has no place in this Bureau. Due process will be observed, but those who dishonor the badge will be held fully accountable,” Magno said. He added that preventive suspension will follow once formal charges are filed.
The NBI also outlined plans to strengthen internal programs on professional conduct, discipline, leadership, and crisis behavior, describing them as a “commitment to growth” rather than punishment.
“To the general public we serve, your trust is the foundation of our mandate. We owe you transparency, professionalism, and unwavering commitment,” the release said. Magno noted that the incident underscores the need for ongoing reforms to maintain public trust.
The Bureau highlighted three key commitments moving forward: accountability for wrongdoers, re-education and reform through training and values formation, and renewed trust built from within the organization.
“Trust in the NBI begins with us, and we will earn it every day in public service,” Magno said.
