MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of a driver for 90 days after he assaulted a man pushing a cart with a child, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.

The action follows the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to hold abusive drivers accountable and enforce discipline on the road.

In a video of the incident, the driver of a Toyota Hilux can be seen verbally abusing and physically striking the street vendor in front of his child, while another bystander tried to intervene.

The LTO issued a show cause order requiring the registered owner and driver of the vehicle to explain their actions on December 17 in connection with the incident.

Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the driver will be held responsible for his behavior and unprovoked assault.
