
MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has processed nearly 1 million applications for voter registration as of December 14, the poll body reported.
A total of 962,615 applications have been received nationwide, including 743,814 for village polls and 218,801 for youth voters aged 15 to 17 under the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) program.
The Comelec also recorded 262,974 new registrants aged 18 and above. Applications for transfer from other cities or municipalities totaled 277,070, while 59,096 applied for transfer within the same city or municipality. Another 38,572 individuals sought to reactivate their registration.
Other applications included 918 for transfer from other cities/municipalities, 279 for transfer within the same locality, and 3,284 for correction of entries.
Voter registration resumed on October 20, 2025, and will run until May 18, 2026. The Comelec aims to register around 1.4 million new voters ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled for November 2026.
