MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has called on young Filipinos to register as voters for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls scheduled for November 2, 2026.
In a news release on Friday, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said teenagers who are at least 14 years old can register as SK voters, provided they turn 15 on or before the youth elections.
“Those who are 14 years old now will turn 15 years old next year, therefore, they can already cast their votes for the SK elections,” Garcia said during a Voters Education Program in Davao del Norte on Thursday.
Garcia emphasized the importance of youth participation in elections. “It brings a different feeling, especially for the youth. It means you are now really part of the society. Indeed, you are now a true Filipino since each of you now has a voice,” he added.
Under Comelec Resolution 11177, eligible SK voters must be at least 15 years old but not more than 30 years old, and must have resided in the barangay for at least six months before the elections.
Comelec data showed that from October 20 to December 14, 223,282 applications were filed to become SK voters. Of these, 218,801 were new registrants, 918 were transfers from other cities or municipalities, 279 were transfers within the same city or municipality, and 3,284 were corrections of entries.
The voter registration period will end on May 18, 2026.
