MANILA — Host-comedian Vice Ganda is considering becoming a parent via surrogacy but is weighing the challenge of temporarily stepping away from their hosting duties on “It’s Showtime.”

In an interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila, Vice discussed plans with husband and co-host Ion Perez to have children using Vice’s genes, as Ion reportedly joked that Vice’s genes were smarter than his.

Surrogacy involves another woman carrying a child on behalf of the intended parents. Vice said they had already consulted a doctor, who advised a three-month rest period to ensure healthy sperm, citing stress and age as factors.

“Kung stressed daw ako, hindi healthy ang sperm. So para makasiguro na maiipunang healthy ‘yan, kailangan masaya yung utak at relaxed. Kung pagod ang katawan at utak, hindi sure,” Vice explained.

While Vice sees no issue with resting, the concern is leaving “It’s Showtime” for that period. “Hindi dahil sa ang kita ko mawawala o pagmamayabang, pero sa sobrang pagmamahal ko sa ‘Showtime’ parang, what’s going to happen if I’m not there for three months?” they said.

Vice added that total distancing is necessary for proper rest, even if hosting duties could be partially managed during movie shoots. They expressed a strong desire for parenthood: “I want kids, I love kids. Gusto ko magmahal, yumakap ng bata, mahalin ‘yung bata, tumanggap ng pagmamahal mula sa bata.”

Vice and Ion have been in a relationship since 2018 and held a wedding commitment ceremony in Las Vegas in 2021.
