MANILA — The Bureau of Customs–Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG), intercepted five unclaimed inbound parcels containing illegal drugs worth more than ₱21 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City on December 15, 2025.

The BOC said the parcels, which were declared as consumer items such as an outdoor wall lamp, bag, digital media discs, merchandise, and a book, were flagged for inspection after showing suspicious indicators.

Upon physical examination, authorities discovered a total of 2,928 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with an estimated standard value of ₱19,910,400, and 997 grams of high-grade marijuana or kush valued at ₱1,495,500.

The seized drugs were turned over to the PDEA for proper disposition and further investigation.

The BOC said the interception constitutes violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as amended, and Republic Act No. 10863, or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

BOC Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno commended the personnel involved in the operation, saying, “These interceptions reflect the Bureau’s sustained efforts to detect and prevent the entry of illegal drugs through postal and courier channels. We remain resolute in protecting our borders and the welfare of the public.”

BOC-NAIA District Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa said the operation highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination, noting that strengthened inspection measures help ensure that mail and cargo facilities are not used for illegal activities.

The BOC said the operation underscores its commitment to enforcing customs and anti-drug laws in support of the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
