MANILA — Voter registration activities nationwide will be suspended during the holidays, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.

Under Comelec Resolution No. 11177, there will be no voter registration activities on Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve), Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), Dec. 30 (Rizal Day), Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve), and Jan. 1, 2026 (New Year’s Day).

Comelec said the five-day break covers poll-related activities being conducted in preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled on Nov. 2, 2026.

Latest data from the poll body showed a total of 1,020,694 processed voter registration applications from Oct. 20 to Dec. 21.

Of this number, 785,420 applications were for barangay voters, while 235,274 were from youth voters.

Voter registration is set to conclude on May 18, 2026. (PNA)
