MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has ordered the registered owner and driver of a Toyota Camry to explain their involvement in a viral hit-and-run incident captured on video.
The footage shows the Toyota Camry colliding with the rear of a motorcycle, causing the driver and passenger of the motorcycle to fall onto the road. The vehicle continued moving away from the scene after the incident.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao directed the owner and the designated driver to appear before the LTO-Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) in East Avenue, Quezon City, on January 6, 2026. They are required to submit a sworn explanation on why the driver should not be held administratively liable for Reckless Driving and why his license should not be revoked or suspended as an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.
While the investigation is ongoing, the driver’s license will be placed under preventive suspension for 90 days, and the Toyota Camry has been put under alarm.
“Ang kabiguang humarap at magsumite ng kinakailangang beripikado o sinumpaang paliwanag ay ituturing bilang pagtalikod sa karapatang marinig, at ang kaso ay papasyahan batay sa mga ebidensiyang nasa talaan ng LTO,” Lacanilao said.
He reiterated that the LTO strictly enforces road safety rules and holds motorists accountable, especially when public safety is at risk.
