MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the drivers and registered owners of vehicles involved in a viral road rage incident on December 24, 2025, at Marikina City Riverbanks.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao ordered the issuance of a Show Cause Order (SCO) requiring the registered owners and drivers of a Ford Ranger Pick-up and a Toyota Vios to appear before the LTO-Intelligence and Investigation Division (LTO-IID) in East Avenue, Quezon City, on January 7, 2026.

Asec. Lacanilao said the drivers and owners must submit VERIFIED or SWORN COMMENTS/EXPLANATIONS to justify why they should not be held administratively liable for violations, including Reckless Driving, Obstruction of Traffic, and why their driver’s licenses should not be suspended or revoked for being Improper Persons to Operate a Motor Vehicle.

Verification of the LTO database showed that the last registration of the Ford Ranger Pick-up was on September 9, 2024, making its owner accountable for the Compulsory Registration of Motor Vehicles.

Meanwhile, both the Ford Ranger Pick-up and Toyota Vios have been placed under “ALARM” status, temporarily prohibiting any transactions involving the vehicles during the ongoing investigation.

Asec. Lacanilao also ordered the preventive suspension of the drivers’ licenses for 90 days while the investigation proceeds.

The LTO chief warned that failure to appear or submit the required sworn explanation will be considered a waiver of their right to be heard, and the case will be decided based on the available evidence in the record.
