MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s net trust rating dropped to -3 percent in a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released after Christmas, while Vice President Sara Duterte, his former ally, rose to 31 percent, following months of back-to-back tirades between Duterte and the Palace amid the flood control scandal.

The survey, sponsored by Stratbase Consultancy, was conducted from November 24 to 30 with 1,200 adult respondents. Sampling error margins are ±3 percent for national percentages and ±6 percent for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Results showed Marcos received 38 percent “much trust” compared to 41 percent who expressed “a little trust” in him. Duterte, on the other hand, had 56 percent “much trust” against 26 percent who have “little trust” in her.

Marcos’ November rating declined from his 7 percent score in October, while Duterte improved from her 25 percent rating in the same period.

Regionally, Marcos attained his highest net trust rating in Balance Luzon at 18 percent but scored -37 in Mindanao, -7 in the Visayas, and -8 in the National Capital Region (NCR). Duterte achieved her highest net trust rating in Mindanao at 74 percent, followed by 43 percent in the Visayas and 12 percent in Balance Luzon, with her weakest score at 2 percent in NCR.

The survey comes after months of public disagreements between Duterte and the Palace over alleged lack of accountability, misuse of funds, and corruption allegations.
