MANILA — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will begin modernizing the EDSA Busway next year with the construction of three additional stations in Cubao, Magallanes, and the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to improve efficiency and accessibility for commuters.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the DOTr to enhance the busway’s time and motion and to promote greater use of public transportation.
Transportation Undersecretary for Road Infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor said the construction bids for the three new stations were awarded in December 2025, with work scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2026 and completion targeted by the fourth quarter of the same year.
“Magkakaroon po tayo ng tatlong bagong istasyon sa EDSA Busway. Ito po ay sa Cubao, sa Magallanes, at ganun din sa PITX dahil gusto natin paigtingin at pabilisin ang time and motion natin dito sa EDSA pag buma-biyahe tayo ng pampublikong transportasyon,” Pastor said.
The Kamuning Station, part of the modernization project, will be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2026. It will feature elevators and escalators to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, and pregnant women.
Pastor also noted ongoing work in the Kamuning area to construct a new footbridge separated from the MRT-3, enhancing commuter safety and accessibility.
