
BAUAN, BATANGAS — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) apprehended five unauthorized individuals attempting to illegally board M/V Super Shuttle RORO 9 with intent to commit theft in waters off Bauan on January 3, 2026.
Around 10:00 PM, a PCG seaborne patrol team responded to a report of a suspected theft involving an anchored vessel. At approximately 11:50 PM, authorities intercepted a motorbanca attempting to board the RORO vessel.
One individual was immediately apprehended on the motorbanca, where cables were recovered, suggesting preparation for illegal activity. Additional personnel were deployed to secure the area and conduct perimeter patrols.
A full search of the vessel led to the apprehension of four more suspects onboard. All five were brought to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Bauan for documentation and medical examination.
The PCG said it is currently preparing the appropriate case for filing against the individuals.
The incident underscores ongoing efforts by maritime authorities to prevent theft and ensure the security of vessels in Philippine waters.
