MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Sunday that 1,120 personnel were dismissed from service and 1,425 others were suspended in 2025 following administrative proceedings.
According to records from the PNP Discipline, Law and Order Division, the penalties were imposed in 2,226 of 4,203 administrative cases filed last year, which involved 6,527 personnel, including 5,229 police non-commissioned officers, 1,101 commissioned officers, and 197 non-uniformed personnel.
Meanwhile, 1,369 cases affecting 3,124 personnel were dismissed or led to exoneration, while 2,843 cases involving 3,403 personnel resulted in corrective actions. Other penalties included:
- Reprimand: 351 cases
- Demotion: 113 cases
- Withholding of privileges: 51 cases
- Forfeiture of salary: 37 cases
- Restriction: 36 cases
Acting PNP Chief PLt.Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the figures underscore the PNP’s commitment to accountability and due process.
“These figures show that accountability in the PNP is not selective and not superficial. We have a clear process—every complaint is investigated, and all sides are listened to… We decide based on facts and due process—whether that leads to penalties or to exoneration,” Nartatez said.
Under his leadership, 435 cases involving 710 personnel were closed from August 26 to December 31, 2025, including 253 personnel dismissed from service, 194 suspended, and 17 reprimanded.
Nartatez emphasized that wearing the police uniform is a privilege, not a right, and warned that those who betray public trust will face consequences while those found innocent will be cleared.
“This balance is essential to a professional police force,” he said.
