PANGUTARAN, SULU — Fisherfolk recovered debris believed to be from a rocket floating off Barangay Suang Buna, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

The debris was found and towed by local fisherfolk on Dec. 30, 2025, and is currently under the custody of Barangay Suang Buna, according to the PCG Sub-Station Pangutaran.

“The recovered debris is currently under the custody of Barangay Suang Buna,” the PCG said, adding that it is coordinating with barangay officials to ensure proper transfer, handling, and disposition of the debris.

The PCG did not specify the country of origin, though photos posted on its social media showed markings resembling the Chinese flag. The Chinese Embassy in Manila has not yet issued a statement on the matter.
