MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that the next phase of the Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) rehabilitation will begin Tuesday night.

In an advisory, the DPWH said repair works will be conducted from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Monday to Friday, for asphalt overlaying. Asphalt overlaying and concrete reblocking will be done from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., Friday to Monday.

The works, scheduled from Jan. 6 to 11, follow President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s order to expedite the renovation of the major highway to make it safer for motorists, commuters, and pedestrians. The schedule is as follows:

Asphalt overlay (northbound)

  • Jan. 6 to 11: Magallanes to Ayala Underpass (2nd to 5th lanes, including 2nd layer asphalt)

Rotomilling (southbound)

  • Jan. 6: Scout Mariano to Aurora Boulevard (2nd to 4th lanes)
  • Jan. 8-10: Vanguard Academy to Kalayaan Flyer (2nd to 4th lanes)

Rotomilling (northbound)

  • Jan. 7: Aurora Boulevard to Apelo Cruz (3rd to 5th lanes)

Concrete reblocking (northbound)

The DPWH advised motorists to use alternative routes and exercise caution while the works are ongoing. An updated schedule of repair works will be issued weekly.
