MANILA — The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) reported a decline in cybercrime incidents in 2025, citing improved law enforcement and public awareness efforts.
Based on records from Jan. 1 to Dec. 4, 2025, most major scam categories saw substantial decreases compared to 2024. Online selling scams, the most common cybercrime modus, fell to 1,525 cases from 3,025, nearly a 50-percent drop.
Investment-related scams decreased from 1,101 cases in 2024 to 291 in 2025, hijacked profile or ID scams dropped from 604 to 183, and vishing cases fell from 589 to just 80.
The PNP noted, however, that cybercriminals continued to adapt, with job and task scams, online loan scams, and impersonation schemes remaining among the top monitored offenses.
“Hindi titigil ang PNP. Sa 2026, lalo pa nating paiigtingin ang ating anti-cybercrime campaign. Mas pinalalakas natin ang intelligence, ang enforcement, at ang pakikipagtulungan sa iba’t ibang ahensya (The PNP will not stop. In 2026, we will further intensify our anti-cybercrime campaign. We are further strengthening intelligence, enforcement, and collaboration with various agencies),” acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
He added that public vigilance remains critical to sustaining gains against cybercrime.
