MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has ordered an inspection of a vessel reported for alleged irregularities while operating in Manila Bay and nearby waters.

In a press statement, PCG said Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan directed the Coast Guard District National Capital Region–Central Luzon to inspect the subject vessel.

According to PCG spokesperson Captain Noemie Cayabyab, the vessel had previously been apprehended for safety-related violations, for which enforcement actions were already undertaken.

“The PCG has made it clear that should detainable violations still be present, and if the vessel is found to have been allowed to sail despite such violations, administrative sanctions to all involved PCG personnel will be imposed,” Cayabyab said.

The PCG said the directive is anchored on the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., reiterating the agency’s commitment to the strict enforcement of maritime laws, environmental protection, and maritime safety within Philippine waters.

The PCG said further updates will be issued as the investigation progresses.
