MANILA — Actor Dennis Trillo defended his wife, actress Jennylyn Mercado, against circulating rumors about alleged tensions with his family.

The allegations surfaced in showbiz host Ogie Diaz’s January 9 vlog, citing an anonymous source claiming that Jennylyn is not on “good terms” with Dennis’s parents and sisters. The source said Jennylyn has neither greeted nor seen her in-laws for years and reportedly prevented Dennis from seeing them.

According to the source, when Dennis’s father was hospitalized last year, the actor only sent a video message. The source also claimed Dennis arranged a lunch with his parents but allegedly asked his sisters not to attend because Jennylyn did not want to see them.

Dennis responded in a Facebook post, calling Jennylyn “isa sa pinakamabuting tao sa buhay ko” (one of the best people in his life) and saying it is his privilege to have her as his life partner. He also appealed for his elderly parents to be spared from public scrutiny, noting that they are not public figures.

Trillo emphasized that he loves his wife, sisters, and parents, adding that their limited bonding is due to busy schedules. He urged rumormongers to focus on being good people and to pay attention to more pressing issues facing the country.

Maiksi lang ang buhay, piliin natin maging masaya at mabuti araw-araw,” he said.
