MANILA — Executive Secretary Ralph Recto dismissed reports of an impending Cabinet reshuffle, saying there is no ongoing move to reorganize President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet.
“At present, there is no impending Cabinet shake-up,” Recto said in a statement. “Speculation about looming revamp does not serve any constructive purpose for the Government or the Filipino people.”
Recto, who serves as the President’s chief alter ego, emphasized that all Cabinet members serve at the pleasure of the President and are subject to ongoing performance evaluation by Malacañang.
“As always, all appointees serve at the pleasure of the President, and their performance is subject to constant review by the Office of the President. Everyone should remain focused on their jobs for the good of our people,” he said.
The statement followed a media report claiming Marcos was preparing his “most extensive Cabinet shakeup yet,” allegedly affecting at least nine government officials.
Malacañang has consistently maintained that any changes in the Cabinet are at the sole discretion of the President and guided by performance, policy direction, and the administration’s priorities.
