MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to ensure the proper implementation of airport modernization projects in Western Visayas, part of the government’s commitment to boost tourism and economic activity in the region.

The directive followed the inauguration of the Antique Airport Development Project in San Jose de Buenavista, Antique.

“Bahagi ang Antique Airport Development Project sa mas malawak na modernisasyon para sa buong Western Visayas,” the President said.

Marcos also announced ongoing rehabilitation works at Iloilo International Airport, including improvements to the Passenger Terminal Building, escalators, flight information display systems, and baggage handling systems. The runway is also being resurfaced to enhance traveler safety.

Similar measures are being undertaken at Roxas Airport, where runway resurfacing is also in progress. Construction of an airport control tower is scheduled to begin this year, the President added.

The President emphasized that the government is implementing various projects across the region and the country to provide long-term benefits for the public.
