MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has suspended voter registration activities in Antipolo City’s second district as it prepares for the special elections to replace the late Rep. Romeo Acop.
In a statement, the poll body said voter registration will resume on March 22. “Regular voter registration in the district is suspended until March 22 for us to focus on the special election,” it added.
Only voters registered as of December 20, 2025, are eligible to vote in the special polls. The district has approximately 300,000 registered voters, making it the largest congressional district in the Philippines in terms of registered voters.
The candidate who wins the highest number of votes in the special election will assume office and serve the remainder of the term in the 20th Congress until June 2028.
Acop died of a heart attack last month, leaving the congressional seat vacant.
