
BALUK-BALUK ISLAND, Basilan – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported the recovery of two additional cadavers during ongoing search and rescue operations in the waters off Baluk-Baluk Island on Monday, February 2, 2026.
The bodies were retrieved by BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) and are undergoing identification and proper disposition in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
With the latest recoveries, the confirmed fatalities have risen to 42, while the number of survivors remains at 316.
PCG authorities continue to conduct SAR operations and provide updates as the situation develops.
