MANILA – Malacañang on Wednesday welcomed the House of Representatives’ dismissal of the impeachment complaints filed against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., saying the cases had no merit from the start.
In a media interview, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos was pleased that the proper process was followed. “Nakita po natin na talagang wala naman pong merito ang nasabing mga complaints at miski po ang pangulo ay kumpyansa na wala siya pong ginawang anumang impeachable offense,” she said.
Quoting the President, Castro added: “Let’s move forward.”
She also expressed hope that the public observed how the accusations against Marcos were examined and ultimately debunked.
Castro denied that the President exercised influence over the House, even though his son Sandro Marcos serves as Majority Leader.
The House Committee on Justice had reviewed the two complaints. While both were found sufficient in form, the committee declared them insufficient in substance, formally ending the impeachment proceedings at the committee level.
