MANILA – The Philippine Government is set to repatriate 191 Filipinos from scam centers in Cambodia on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
The Philippine Embassy in Phnom Penh, in coordination with Cambodian police and immigration authorities, expedited exit clearances and waived immigration penalties to facilitate their return.
The Cambodian Government’s intensified crackdown on online scam operations led to the rescue of Filipinos in scam compounds, while others managed to escape on their own.
The 191 Filipinos are scheduled to arrive in Manila on a special Philippine Airlines flight funded by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). To ensure their safe return, the DMW deployed Rapid Response Teams in Phnom Penh, working closely with the Philippine Embassy under the one-country-team approach.
Last year, the Embassy repatriated 377 alleged Filipino human trafficking victims from Cambodia, followed by 266 more in January 2026.
The Philippine Government strongly warns Filipinos against suspicious overseas job offers—particularly those promising high salaries and free accommodation in customer service, call center, or AI-related roles—which often lead to inhumane conditions, unpaid wages, and abuse.
