MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday confirmed the voluntary surrender of an individual to the NBI-National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) in connection with a rape case.

A Warrant of Arrest was issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court, Branch 52, for a charge of rape under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1(b) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by R.A. No. 8353.

The accused surrendered in Ermita, Manila, after his legal counsel coordinated his intent to submit to lawful custody. Reports identified the complainant only as “Anna.”

According to the complaint, Anna alleged that she went out one evening in Quezon City with the accused, who had offered to help her reconcile with her husband. They reportedly visited several establishments along Tomas Morato Avenue with other individuals, including another police officer, a barangay official, and a female companion.

Anna claimed that after consuming her last drink, she suddenly lost consciousness and later suspected her beverage had been tampered with. She said she regained awareness inside a motel room, where she alleged she was sexually assaulted, and the act only stopped once she became conscious.

Prior to the issuance of the warrant, authorities received information that the accused had gone absent without official leave (AWOL) from work and feared for his safety due to circulating reports labeling him a fugitive.

The accused is now in NBI-NCR custody and will be processed and turned over to the appropriate court authorities for further legal proceedings.

“We welcome the voluntary surrender of the Subject as a step in upholding the rule of law and the authority of our justice system. The NBI will continue to handle this matter with the highest level of professionalism, ensuring that the investigation is thorough, impartial, and guided strictly by due process,” said NBI Director Angelito D.L.P. Magno.
