MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday expressed confidence that the Philippines-United States alliance will continue to advance with renewed commitment as both countries mark the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

In a ceremony at Malacañang Palace attended by high-level Philippine and U.S. officials, President Marcos unveiled a special commemorative logo symbolizing eight decades of cooperation, to be used throughout the year during anniversary activities.

“From opposite sides of the Pacific, our two countries have bridged distance and differences, guided by our shared history and our common advocacies,” the President said. “I am confident that this alliance will move forward with even greater conviction and commitment to the security, prosperity, and resilience of our peoples and of our region.”

The 80th anniversary coincides with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the 75th anniversary of the Philippine-U.S. Mutual Defense Treaty, which continues to guide defense and security relations.

President Marcos highlighted the breadth of bilateral cooperation, noting that the relationship now extends to new frontiers such as cyber and outer space. He also recalled his visit to the U.S. last year, marking him as the first ASEAN leader invited to the White House during President Donald Trump’s second term, which he said reinforced the alliance and paved the way for sustained high-level exchanges.

“Any enduring relationship requires commitment and sustained effort, and we have certainly done the needed work,” he said, underscoring the comprehensive engagement across domestic, regional, and international concerns.

The anniversary celebrations aim to strengthen public awareness of the historic ties, highlight the achievements of the bilateral partnership, and provide a platform for expanding collaboration in emerging sectors, ensuring that the Philippines-U.S. alliance continues to adapt to evolving global challenges.
