MANILA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) clarified that no complaint has been filed against Siomai King co-founder Carlito Macadangdang in connection with the alleged ghost flood control projects in Bulacan.
DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said this following reports that the Court of Appeals granted the Anti-Money Laundering Council’s (AMLC) petition to freeze hundreds of bank accounts and dozens of properties linked to Macadangdang and his business partner, Jonathan So.
“No complaint has been filed with the DOJ, specifically charging Carlito Macadangdang as a respondent,” Martinez said in a statement to reporters.
Both Macadangdang and So have denied any involvement in the scandal, insisting that the allegations against them are baseless.
Last Friday, the DOJ confirmed that investigations into the alleged ghost flood control projects include So, who is linked to one of the contractor firms, Topnotch Catalyst Builders. Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon clarified that So is not a contractor but a project “proponent.”
