MANILA — A total of 129 LGBTQIA+ couples took part in Quezon City’s annual Commitment Ceremony on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, a celebration of love and inclusion officiated by Mayor Joy Belmonte.

While same-sex marriage is not legally recognized in the Philippines, the city continues to provide a platform that affirms diverse relationships.

“Sa QC, malaya kayong magmahalan at magpahayag ng inyong pagiibigan. Love always wins in QC,” Mayor Belmonte said. She emphasized that Quezon City embraces couples regardless of gender and supports their right to love freely.

The event drew support from national and local officials, including DSWD LGBTQIA+ Affairs Undersecretary Ellen Pasion, Quezon City councilors, and representatives from neighboring local government units.

Belmonte thanked the participating couples, saying the ceremony recognizes and celebrates their commitment despite legal limitations.
