
MANILA — Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has declared special non-working days in six localities to enable residents to take part in their respective founding anniversaries and festivals.
Under Proclamation No. 1162, signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on February 9, March 20 was declared a special non-working day in the City of San Fernando, La Union for its Founding Anniversary.
Proclamation No. 1164 designated March 10 as a special non-working day in Tanauan City, Batangas in observance of its 25th Cityhood Anniversary.
The same date was also declared a special non-working day in Norala, South Cotabato through Proclamation No. 1165 for its Founding Anniversary.
Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 1166 set March 13 as a special non-working day in the municipality of Bauko, Mountain Province for the Begnas di Bauko Festival, a thanksgiving celebration honoring ancestors and Kabunyan, regarded as their Supreme Being, for a bountiful harvest.
Proclamation No. 1167 declared March 18 a special non-working day across the Province of Masbate in line with its 125th Founding Anniversary. These proclamations were signed by Recto on February 11.
In addition, Proclamation No. 1168, signed on February 12, declared March 16 a special non-working day in Aguilar, Pangasinan for the Ansakket Festival.
The festival serves as a thanksgiving celebration to the Father Almighty for a good harvest and highlights the town’s well-known delicacy, ansakket, which consists of cakes made from glutinous rice.
