MANILA – Several civil society and sectoral groups will gather on February 25 to demand accountability over corruption, poverty, and political dynasties in the country, marking the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

In a press briefing, organizers said coordinated activities—including Masses and concerts—will take place at White Plains, the Edsa Shrine, and Edsa-Ortigas areas.

“Forty years after 1986, the same problems persist, only more entrenched,” said BAYAN in a statement. “While politicians and favored contractors grow richer, the people continue to endure high prices, stagnant wages, job insecurity, and devastating floods and other calamities. Exploitation and oppression deepen while impunity reigns.”

The groups stressed that the gatherings will remain peaceful and estimated participation to exceed 30,000 people.

This protest follows earlier mobilizations last year on September 21 and November 30, 2025, which highlighted alleged corruption linked to flood control projects. “On February 25, we build on the momentum of the September 21 and November 30, 2025, anti-corruption mobilizations,” BAYAN said. “We go back to the Parliament of the Streets to demand accountability up to the two highest officials of the land. We demand the prompt prosecution of all corrupt lawmakers and executive officials involved in the flood control anomalies.”

The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that 11,000 personnel will be deployed for the rallies. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it will be on full alert starting February 21 to ensure security and manage crowds during the EDSA anniversary and planned Trillion Peso March protests.
