MANILA — Malacañang denied claims that a “presidential son” was involved in a road harassment incident along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).

“No such incident involving any presidential son,” Presidential Communications Secretary Dave Gomez told reporters.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have three sons: Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, 31; Joseph Simon, 30; and William Vincent, 28. Sandro serves as the majority floor leader in the lower house.

Social media posts had claimed that a three-vehicle motorcade intercepted a car carrying one of the president’s sons shortly after 7 p.m., and that around 15 individuals allegedly alighted from vehicles registered in a municipality in Bulacan to confront the security detail. Some posts also claimed a passenger in one of the Bulacan-registered vehicles carried a firearm.

Deputy Speaker Jay Khonghun of Zambales criticized the reports as baseless and irresponsible.

“Kung wala namang nangyari at malinaw na itinanggi na ng Malacañang, tigilan na natin ang pagpapakalat ng fake news. Ang ganitong klaseng haka-haka ay nakakasira at nagdudulot lang ng kalituhan sa publiko (If nothing happened and Malacañang has clearly denied it, let’s stop spreading fake news. This kind of speculation is damaging and only causes confusion among the public),” he said.

Khonghun urged that public discussions remain anchored on verified information.

“Hindi biro ang gumawa o magpakalat ng ganitong istorya (It’s not a joke to fabricate or spread this kind of story). It undermines public trust and diverts attention from real issues that deserve serious discussion. If we allow this kind of misinformation to go unchecked, deception becomes normalized. That erodes the very foundations of informed democratic discourse,” he added.

Authorities have not provided further details on the alleged incident.
