MANILA — Singer Kris Lawrence recounted the incident in 2006 when fellow showbiz hopeful Alvin Aragon stole his cellphone, confirming claims made by Aragon in a viral 2024 video.

In a Facebook video, Kris shared that he, along with fellow singer Jay-R and a group of friends including Alvin, went out to a bar before inviting everyone to his home.

“They came to the house and we started drinking in the studio. [Nung] sumisikat na ‘yung araw, pack up na, umalis na sila. When I was going back to my room, I noticed that nawawala ang cellphone ko,” Kris said.

Kris immediately called one of Alvin’s friends, who admitted that Alvin had taken the phone. “I was like, ‘Dude, why would you do that? Why would you steal from me in my own house? That’s so disrespectful,’” Kris recalled.

Although he was angry, Kris said he refrained from violence. “Nag-sorry siya and honestly, my fists were balled up. Gusto ko siyang suntukin pero I know that violence is never the answer, so I said it’s okay. Medyo binibinigyan ko pa rin siya ng attitude na understandable naman kasi ninakaw niya ‘yung cellphone ko,” he added.

Kris said he had forgotten about the incident until the resurfaced video of Alvin’s confession, in which the latter admitted to stealing phones and cash from various celebrities.

“Nung napasok ako sa showbiz, aba doon ako nagnanakaw. Nagnanakaw ako ng cellphone din. Si Kris Lawrence, ‘yung singer, ninakawan ko ng cellphone ‘yun sa bahay niya,” Alvin said.

Reflecting on the past, Kris said, “I know he’s in a better place now. I know he’s a Christian and alam ko naman na mabait si Alvin.”
