MANILA — The Senate is set to fast-track key measures endorsed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), with a goal to approve at least 17 priority bills before June, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said.

In a chance interview, Sotto said the Senate caucus agreed to expedite the legislative calendar, particularly for measures on the LEDAC list.

He noted that some bills have “been sleeping in committee,” especially 14 of the 48 measures identified under the LEDAC agenda.

“‘Yun ang mga more or less isa sa major topics (That was more or less one of the major topics),” he said, referring to caucus discussions.

“Sa 17 na nakalista sa amin, kailangan by June nakapasa na (Of the 17 listed with us, they need to be passed by June),” Sotto added.

He clarified that the Senate will remain in session until June, with only a scheduled Easter break.

Among the measures discussed was the proposed Anti-Political Dynasty bill, which Sotto described as “good” and noted will likely undergo lengthy interpellations.

Regarding a resolution filed by minority bloc members on protection against extraordinary rendition, Sotto said it remains scheduled for interpellation.
