MANILA — Members of the Electoral Board (EB) serving in the March 14 special congressional elections in Antipolo City’s 2nd District are set to receive at least PHP11,000, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.
Under Comelec Resolution No. 11198, chairpersons will receive PHP12,000, while members will get PHP11,000. The compensation covers honoraria, travel, communication, and meal allowances.
“The chairperson and members of the EB shall be entitled to compensation depending on their designation, which is inclusive of honoraria, travel, communication, and meal allowances,” the resolution stated.
Comelec said EB chairs and members who are government employees will also receive a minimum of 10 days of service credits. In addition, poll workers are entitled to PHP500,000 in death benefits and PHP200,000 in medical assistance.
Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said the honoraria and benefits are similar to those provided during the May 2025 elections.
“The additional pays and benefits for teachers are non-negotiable. The heroes of the nation are not to be undervalued,” Garcia said in a phone interview.
Each clustered precinct will have an EB composed of a chairperson, a poll clerk, and a third member. The Antipolo special polls will cover 348 clustered precincts for 252,793 registered voters.
Garcia also welcomed the declaration of March 14 as a special non-working day in the district under Malacañang Proclamation No. 1173.
“This will help ensure that the citizens of the 2nd District will be able to vote,” he said.
