MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) clarified that it has not issued new rules on driver’s licenses for senior citizens, contrary to circulating social media videos.

In a Facebook post, the LTO labeled as false the claims that new requirements for senior drivers would take effect on March 1, 2026.

“WALANG KATOTOHANAN ang kumakalat na impormasyon o ‘video’ sa social media tungkol sa mga umano’y ‘Bagong Driver’s License Rules Para Sa Senior Citizens Simula March 1, 2026,’” the agency said.
(There is no truth to the information or video on social media about supposed new driver’s license rules for senior citizens starting March 1, 2026.)

The LTO also rejected claims in the video about new medical requirements, stricter renewal procedures, or changes in the validity period for senior drivers, describing them as unofficial and incorrect.

The agency emphasized that no directive or memorandum has been released regarding new guidelines for senior citizens, and current policies remain in effect.

The LTO urged the public to verify information through its official channels and follow its Facebook page and website for accurate updates on policies and services.
