MANILA — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has rolled out training programs aimed at the creative industry, TESDA officials said.

TESDA Undersecretary Nelly Dillera said the “Juana Creatives” initiative targets hobbyists and individuals looking for weekend or after-work activities. Unlike traditional TESDA courses that offer scholarships, the new program requires a registration fee, as TESDA will partner with enterprises providing training programs.

Activities under the program include pottery, jewelry-making, fragrance-making, animation, and game development. “So these are not the traditional ones that the TESDA has been offering. The new program will help in health and wellness. Perhaps, eventually, this would also help in the livelihood of women,” Dillera said, clarifying that the program is open to all.

Dillera added that the workshops will utilize existing TESDA equipment for leather craft, jewelry-making, and pottery. She also hopes trainees’ products could be featured in trade fairs organized in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry.
