MANILA — The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) has directed banks nationwide to prominently display new decals and standees informing depositors about the protection provided under the country’s deposit insurance system.
In a statement released Wednesday, the PDIC said all banks must post the new materials in their head offices and branches beginning April 15, 2026, to help ensure that depositors are aware of the safeguards covering their savings.
The directive follows the distribution of updated decals and standees last year. The PDIC later issued Bulletin No. 2026-02 on February 6, 2026, reminding banks of the mandatory requirement to display the official seals of protection for the public’s information.
The materials reflect the increase in the maximum deposit insurance coverage (MDIC) to ₱1 million per depositor per bank, which took effect on March 15, 2025. According to the PDIC, the higher coverage level aims to strengthen protection for bank deposits and help bolster confidence in the banking system.
To implement the increase, the agency released Regulatory Issuance (RI) No. 2025-01 in June 2025, also known as the Revised Rules and Regulations on Advertisement and Proper Use of the PDIC Seal, Insurance Statement, and Signages. The rules outline how banks should properly display the new decals and standees across their facilities and customer channels.
Under the guidelines, banks are required to place the physical decals at the entrances of their head offices, branches, and branch-lite units. The digital version must also be displayed on official bank websites, digital banking platforms, automated teller machines, and similar customer-access devices.
Meanwhile, standees must be placed at teller counters and new accounts sections to ensure visibility in areas where customers typically transact with banks.
The PDIC said the display of these materials across physical locations and digital platforms highlights the cooperation between the agency and the banking industry in improving transparency and depositor awareness.
The corporation also reminded banks that compliance with RI No. 2025-01 is mandatory and warned that failure to follow the display requirements may lead to fines and penalties under the PDIC Charter.
Banks may obtain the new decals and standees free of charge from the PDIC Public Assistance Center at the PDIC Chino Building along Chino Roces Avenue in Makati City. They may also request delivery through the PDIC website, subject to applicable courier fees.
The PDIC was established on June 22, 1963 under Republic Act 3591 to protect depositors and promote stability in the financial system.
