UPPSALA, Sweden — Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis cleared 6.31 meters at the Mondo Classic indoor meeting on Thursday, breaking his own pole vault world record by one centimeter.
The Olympic and world champion had a flawless progression, clearing 5.65m, 5.90m, and 6.08m before surpassing his previous mark. Duplantis did not miss a single attempt on his way to the record.
Unlike most track and field events, pole vault maintains a single world record for both indoor and outdoor performances. This marks the 15th time Duplantis has set a world record since first breaking it in 2020, highlighting his continued dominance in the event.
Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen finished second after clearing 6.00m, his second successful six-metre vault this season. Americans Zachery Bradford and Sam Kendricks, along with Australia’s Kurtis Marschall, cleared 5.90m to finish third, fourth, and fifth respectively.
